As State Senator for District 12, I strive to serve as a responsive representative for Waikiki, Ala Moana, McCully, Moiliili, Sheridan, and Kakaako. Together we can make positive change for our district, our state. Join us in caring for each other.
Life changed on February 28 when COVID-19 arrived. The Governor proclaimed a state of emergency on March 4; his stay-at-home order and 14-day quarantine shuttered our state and tanked our economy. Senate President Kouchi appointed a six-member COVID-19 Special Committee, including me, to assess the state administration's response. I switched our office work to almost full-time response to health care, condo resident safety, explaining the emergency order response, and helping unemployed with their UI claims. Our monthly chats became almost daily pandemic-related email messages. Your comments and ideas help greatly. We are fearful, frustrated, and angry, but we are community. We will meet the challenges of these times and celebrate a better tomorrow with vaccines on the way!
Wishing you and your families a Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year!
